Long standing Speed Plastics staff are celebrating after clocking up 93 years of combined service.
Five employees, Jane Collyer, Ray Bardell, Dot Noton, Janet Draycott and Ruth Addlington have all worked for the company for 16 years or more with Janet and Jane working for the company for over 20 years each.
Speed Plastics specialise in high frequency welding of flexible plastics such as PVC, polyurethane film, polyester and polyurethane-coated textiles. Offering companies a range of bespoke engineering solutions, the workforce consists of welders, factory operatives, production staff and administration support.
Speaking about her job, Dot said: “You need to be patient and maintain concentration at all times, which can be quite challenging, but it keeps me on my toes. Having a nice atmosphere to work in really helps though, it is a pleasure to come to work.”
Factory Operative, Ruth is trained on all machines on the shop floor from sewing to operating a welding machine and says she works wherever’ she is needed.
Ruth added: “This year, I will have been with the company for 17 years – time certainly flies when you’re having fun! We all support one another and know we can rely on anyone in the team. It’s like one big family.”
Managing Director, Mike Hutson, said: “It is an honour to have such long standing employees here at Speed Plastics. I hope their long service is testament to our commitment as an employer and that they are here for many more years to come.”
